Benjamin Ballard, carpenter

Benjamin Ballard was Ari’s 6x great-grandfather. He was born in Harbridge, Hampshire, the son of John Ballard and Mary Williams, and baptised on 30 January 1774.

On 11 September 1803, Benjamin married Elizabeth Target at the church in East Knoyle, Wiltshire.

The marriage licence tells us that Benjamin was a carpenter, aged twenty-nine, and a bachelor.


Their daughter, Mary Anne, was born the following year. A son, George, was buried on 8 December 1805, just a few weeks after his mother:
